Frequently Asked Questions...

How do I make an appointment?
Call or email Chef Douglas to inquire if the date and time you are interested in is available.  Once you have determined if an appointment is available, go to the menu page and make your selections then email them with information about your cabin (Cabin rental company and cabin name or directions if you are the owner) to Chef Douglas.  Also, please include a telephone number where you can be reached during your stay is available.  He will email back a Menu Conformation.

Your appointment will not be confirmed until Chef Douglas has received your menu selections and cabin information.  Unconfirmed appointments maybe lost without notice, so make your selections and provide information about your cabin as soon as possible.

How far in advance do I need to make an appointment?
Chef Douglas is often booked several weeks in advance.  Friday, Saturday and holiday weekend appointments are the most popular and thus are the most difficult to obtain.  If possible, please provide a secondary appointment date and time in case your first choice is not available.

Can each member of my group select a separate menu item for each course?
For groups of six or less, each member can make their own menu selections for each course.  For groups larger than six, everyone must eat from the same menu.

Is there a form I must use to email my menu selections?
No, just put your selections in an email and Chef Douglas will convert them to the Menu Conformation form which will be sent to you.

How much are your meals?
Each dinner is a four course gourmet dinner the price for which is next to the entrée on the Dinner Menu page.  Brunch is two courses and is a fixed price.  Holiday meals are four courses and are fixed price.  Please go to the appropriate menu page on this site for current menu and pricing information.

Are there any taxes or other charges?
All appropriate taxes and fees are included in the price listed on the menu pages.  A gratuity is always appreciated.

What kind of payment do you take?
Chef Douglas accepts cash or check only.  Payment maybe made after you have enjoyed your meal.  If you choose to have prepared meals, an address where you can send your check will be included with your menu conformation?

Do you deliver meals?
No.  All of the meals Chef Douglas provides are prepared in the cabin and either served or left for you to heat and serve at your convenience.

Are the meals prepared in advance or prepared in the cabin?
All meals are prepared in the cabin from fresh ingredients.  Chef Douglas never prepares meals in advance.

How often does the menu change?
The Dinner Menu changes seasonally, usually three or four times a year.

What are prepared meals?
If you prefer not to have your meals served, Chef Douglas will prepare the meals in your cabin, usually the day of your arrival, and leave them in the cabin’s refrigerator.  You can then heat and serve them at your convenience.  Prepared meals are full cooked and have heating directions affixed.

What time do you arrive to begin preparation of the meal?
Generally, Chef Douglas will arrive approximately one hour in advance of the appointment time to begin preparation of your meals.    Large groups may require more preparation time.  Chef Douglas will advise you of his approximate arrival time when he sends the menu conformation.  However, since Chef Douglas offers two dinner appointments per evening and since some cabins are located in remote locations, arrival times are approximate and may vary slightly.

Do I need to supply any food, cooking or serving items?
Chef Douglas provides all of his own cooking utensils and uses the table service provided in the cabin.  Chef Douglas also provides all of the food items necessary to prepare your meal.  It is assumed that you already have brought what ever beverages you would like to have with you to the cabin.  However, if you would like to have Chef Douglas provide a complementary bottle of wine or Champagne, he will do so with the purchase of a bouquet of flowers.  Local law prohibits Chef Douglas from selling alcoholic beverages.

Do I need to provide directions to the cabin?
Chef Douglas works closely with the cabin rental companies in the area and can obtain directions directly from them.  If you own the cabin, please provide directions with your menu selections.

Do you clean-up?
